Hello fellow paddlers,

Come visit us at The Woods for all of your canoe and kayak rental needs. We're located on M-123 (Tahquamenon Falls Road) in Michigan's Upper Peninsula between Newberry and Paradise, just 10 miles west of the Upper Tahquamenon Falls. If you would like to paddle one of the many lakes and rivers in the area, we offer daily and weekly rentals at affordable prices. Our Woodsman canoes are lightweight  and can be transported on the roof of most vehicles, or for your convenience, we'll  deliver them right to your campsite. We also offer a variety of canoeing and kayaking opportunities on the beautiful Tahquamenon River, from "getting your paddle wet", to multi-day trips.
Approximately 95 miles long, the Tahquamenon River starts as a narrow trout stream. Fed by numerous tributaries, it eventually becomes a large, and stately river. The scenery along the Tahqumenon is among the most beautiful you will ever see, and it supports an abundance of wildlife. Beaver, mink, otter, deer, bear, moose, wolves, bald eagles, blue herons, sandhill cranes, and a variety of other animals inhabit the area. Many types of fish can be found in these waters, including perch, walleye, northern pike, musky, bass, trout, and panfish. Dawn and dusk are the best times for viewing wildlife, and your chances increase dramatically if you are in a canoe or kayak. To make special arrangements for an early morning or late evening trip, please call us in advance.
If you would like more information about our trips, or would like to reserve a canoe or kayak, just give us a call at (906) 203-7624

                                                                         Sincerely,

Upper Falls area Trip

( Not shown on map below )

A great trip for leisurely paddling, fishing, wildlife viewing, and photography. A "must see" for nature lovers. This is a beautiful wilderness area located in the heart of  "Tahquamenon Country". Note that the river in this area is very wide open and deep. Also there is a steep incline at exit, and there are no toilets on this trip. Your trip begins at a remote launch site, and will end about 1/2 mile before you reach the Upper Falls. Plan on at least 3 hours for this trip.

1st Canoe or Kayak $40, or 2 Kayaks $50

ea. add Canoe $30 / Kayak $25

All trips include delivery/shuttle, paddles, and PFDs

We also offer multi-day trips

We got a video of this young moose as he visited us on the Fourth of July, 2012

at 7:30 in the morning. Later in the morning he was seen leading a procession of cars down M-123 as he walked casually down the shoulder of the road.
